When we imagine weddings in cities, we immediately envision glamorous, swanky weddings with high-end fashion and upscale locations. Today’s wedding exceeds the expectations of those who attend, thanks to some of the most stunning venues in London and a gorgeous wedding dress by Claire Pettibone wedding gown.
An old, grand bank transformed into a beautiful hotel, a stunning cathedral, and a classy restaurant set the tone for this gorgeous City of London wedding. Each one was an architectural masterpiece. The venues offered clean, marble backdrops to the couple’s wedding photos.
Walking along the grand walkways between venues, Photographer Jessica Williams captured perfect candid shots like the city was shut down to celebrate their wedding day.
Our Love Story
We became friends in 2009 and were engaged in Paris in 2014. The wedding was a very romantic experience. We initially set out to marry in 2016 but decided to travel rather than travel, so we recommenced our wedding plans from the sandy beach in India in February 2017.
The Dress & Attire
I’ve been a fan of Claire Pettibone dresses since I was a part of my sister’s wedding dress shopping in 2015. I also spotted the Kristene Dress in the early days, and after trying it about two years later, I knew it was the dress I wanted to wear!
We discovered Beggars Run through Instagram. The guys are fantastic, and Terry’s custom-made-to-measure suit was the perfect fit.
The Venues & Style
We are in Northamptonshire in a rural area, and have been to many beautiful country homes, barn weddings, and marquee and barn weddings. We wanted to create an event that felt unique and more meaningful to us.
We’ve always enjoyed visiting London in the city, and Hawksmoor is among our top eateries. It was perfect to learn that they cater weddings in the Guildhall dining room. We’re big foodies, so being in a position to provide the best food to our guests was an absolute pleasure for us. We were confident from the beginning that the team at Hawksmoor was spot on.
The Venues & Style
Everything else came together; the impressive St Lawrence Jewry Church was five minutes away. Nine months before the big day, Soho House opened their new property, The Ned, right across the street. We arranged for rooms to stay in during the days leading up to our wedding and the following days. Most of our guests stayed, meaning we could make an entire weekend out of it. The celebration back at the Ned continued to the very early hours. It was a great time during the day to stroll between the venues, and it was a good thing that the rain didn’t come.
The Photography
We were introduced to Jess, one of our extraordinaire wedding photographers, at a wedding fair held at The Truman Brewery in Brick Lane; we knew when we saw her work that it would capture our wedding day perfectly! We’re neither skilled at posing, so Jess’s elegant and romantic style worked for us. We could not be happier with these photos!
The Reception
Our goal was for the day to be relaxed and enjoyable, so we hired a fantastic magician who entertained guests throughout the reception for drinks and dinner. We had an unspoken wedding, as no one would want to feel pressured! Instead, we gave a few hugs to our dearest and closest.
DJs started things off at the night’s end with a DJ. We decided to go with the first song instead of an initial dance and demanded everyone join us on the dancefloor to “Chic – Everybody Dance.” The party (and alcohol) took off out of there and was a blast!
