Lauren Butler and Rich Ferreira met for the first time in January at Mammoth Mountain. But they knew that they would meet soon after. They were a great match, according to their mutual family friends. Lauren recalls that Rich met Rich through the same family friends months before and it was this connection that set the stage for them to be a good match. She adds, “The anticipation leading up to meeting him was special because I had been introduced by close friends and I knew there was some interest on my side,” with a wink.
They were able to connect with their family and friends. The duo dated for 4 years before moving on to July 2018. Lauren says that Rich proposed to Lauren at the top winery Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo overlooking the Douro Valley wine regions of Portugal . He is Portuguese, and we spent two weeks touring the country together with his family. It was an amazing European trip that allowed us to learn more about him and his culture while also celebrating our engagement.
They began planning their wedding after returning to the UK. Although there was a lot of uncertainty during the pandemic planning, their destination was clear from the beginning. Lauren, a native of Los Angeles, says Cabo San Lucas was an easy decision for her. It feels like home to me and my family, who have been visiting Cabo for over 20 years. Rich also loves Cabo. He was there on our first trip to Cabo many years ago with my families. This made it clear why Cabo is such a special place for us.
Lauren says that after booking a florist and a planer , she “ran through the internet, Instagram and Pinterest to find inspiration.” We wanted our wedding to be timeless and elegant. I shared all my ideas with Del Cabo and Pina Cate and Amy Abbott Events. They created a variety of options. They are all professionals and it was very easy thanks to the collaboration of these amazing creators and artists. After one postponement, 90 people gathered at The Cape in A Thompson Hotel, on the southern tip of Baja California Sur for a wedding that was beyond their wildest expectations. Although the destination, Cab San Lucas, was set in stone by the couple they were open to visiting other venues. It turned out that this was not necessary. “The Cape was our first stop on the wedding venue tour. Lauren recalls that it felt right from the start. The view was unbeatable. The hotel’s retro-modern and Baja beach aesthetics, along with the incredible views of Cabo Arch, was simply amazing. We had always dreamed of getting married in a small boutique hotel where our guests could enjoy a little vacation.” This venue also served as a starting point for decor. Lauren and her wedding party were getting ready–local makeup artist Olga Bustos Moreno, and her team beautified them. dog Jax sat in Lauren’s lap, ready to take on his important role later in day.
