Katherine Bennett and Tavares Jeff met during the summer when both were living in Nashville. She recalls that she met Tavares Jefferson on Hinge. She recalls that they met on Hinge. A few months later, they became long-distance after Tavares obtained a job in Las Vegas. Katherine eventually joined Tavares west after a little over a year of back-and forth.
Katherine says, “We got engaged in summer at our Las Vegas house.” Coved caused our trip to Greece to be cancelled. My husband had planned to propose there. Instead, we planned a trip to Oregon. Tavares surprised us right before we set foot at the airport. He proposed to me, the only two of them, while our dog was watching!
The duo started planning despite the uncertainty surrounding the pandemic. They made sure that the process was fun, even as they planned. We had a great time bringing our vision alive. Katherine says that we Face Timed our families and drank wine as we stamped envelopes. Then, we went on long walks to discuss all the details. We loved discussing our wedding, what everyone would wear, how they would feel .

“I wore an veil from Etsy. I wanted something simple, and shoes from Amazon. Katherine laughs, saying that she was told they would be destroyed. Her jewelry had a special meaning. My necklace was a engagement ring that I wore to honor my grandmother. She died just a few months prior to the wedding. We were very close. We each get to wear the ring for special occasions, as she had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Tavares chose a classic look for his wedding day. Katherine said that Tavarres wore a black suit with a red lining and a U-shaped vest. What about the accessories? He wore monogrammed Cufflinks with the ‘K+T” on one side and our wedding date on another. He also wore Christian Louboutin red bottom shoes – they had no special significance but he loved them.
